Thanks to high-quality materials—such as sapphire crystal glass, stainless steel, and Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan—years of research, and Glashütte’s rich watchmaking heritage, this watch has achieved something that few others have. While timepieces come and go, Tangente is still a bestseller and classic today. And has been for over 25 years. It began in 1990: NOMOS founder Roland Schwertner came across a dial from the thirties, a watch that had sunk into obscurity—and he saw potential in its typography. Inspired by it, he and graphic designer Susanne Günther updated the numerals and gradually created the watch to go with it. The first watch model with manual winding and an angular, elegant case was ready to be launched in 1992, alongside three others—and quickly became the most popular and bestselling NOMOS model. Even today, Tangente has received more awards than any other NOMOS watch. Form follows function: NOMOS Glashütte is a member of the Deutscher Werkbund, a precursor to Bauhaus and the Ulm School, and works according to the rules of the renowned German design movements. Tangente follows this guiding principle too. This watch model comes with or without a date and power reserve indicator; with manual or automatic winding, as well as in various colors and sizes. There is a version for every wrist. The latest, Tangente Update, is perhaps the most significant. After all, this new timepiece with its groundbreaking date has achieved something special.
